Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest, Garcia’s family has increased that reward this evening by an additional $5,000, for a total of $6,000.

Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477) all callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward.

The decedent has been identified as 36 year old Rene R. Garcia of Lee County. Mr. Garcia lived in that area, however, he did not reside on Galaxy Drive.

This appears to be an isolated incident and is not a part of any other on-going investigations. Many interviews have been conducted with the area however a suspect has not been identified. The investigation continues.

In the early morning hours of December 13, 2014, deputies responded to the intersection of N. Galaxy Drive and S. Galaxy Dr. in reference to a death investigation.

At approximately 1am, patrol deputies on scene found one victim lying on the ground deceased. Lee County Sheriff’s Office K-9 and Aviation Units responded to the scene. A perimeter was established by responding deputies, however the suspect has not been located.

Due to the nature of the incident, detectives with Lee County Sheriffs Office Major Crimes Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
